Drummer/Songwriter Morgan Powers began playing drums at age six. Adept in all styles of music, he studied jazz for many years with such legends as Joey Cass (Four Seasons), Carl Wolf, Sonny Igoe, Paul Capozzoli, and
Joe Morello. He also learned double-bass drum techniques from heavy hitters like Chuck Bonfante (Saraya), Mark Droubay (Survivor), Mark Roberts (Riot), and others.
Over the years, Morgan has played live and in studios from coast-to-coast with musicians from wide-ranging genres including 80s triple-platinum
pop group Ambrosia; Anthrax; Attacker; Overkill; Billy Idol; Riot; Cyclops; Virgin
Silver; If Looks Could Kill; Electric Angels, and internationally acclaimed vocalists
Ken Stacey,
Peggi Blu and
Terry Bradford.
Morgan has also teamed up with mega record producer
Ted Perlman to create the soundtrack for the weekly animated
television series
“The Adventures of Willie Pop.” On that project, Morgan wrote the original songs for the audio tracks and co-produced and performed the drum tracks at the landmark Buffalo Studios, Los Angeles, Calif.Morgan was a top finalist in a major double-bass drum solo competition, sponsored
by Tama® drums, Zildjian® cymbals, and Long Island Drum Center®. More than 400 drummers from around the New York Tri-State area competed in the event. Final solos, including the one performed by Morgan, were broadcast live on WNEW-FM, New York's biggest rock radio station.
